I am astounded by this restaurant. Truly a mom-and-pop, made with love, family run restaurant. It is incredible, full-stop. The Cuban sandwich was one of the best I've ever had (huge, utterly delicious, authentic.. just perfect), and the black beans and rice was outstanding. Simple but done perfectly. I will be telling everyone I know about this place. RUN, don't walk, to Havana 1961 if you are in the area. I cannot say enough good things about it. Shop local, support family-run places.

The Cuban sandwich is authentic and delicious. Papu’s Burrito is large and delicious. Ropa Vieja is a little pricey but is enough for two meals/two people and is one of my favorites. The atmosphere is authentic Cuban and well done. The plantains as an appetizer were the best I’ve ever had! The staff has always been friendly, personable, and prompt. Kiara was our most recent server and she was great!

Found this place as I was driving back from Kansas City. I was craving Cuban food, I know downtown Stl has a restaurant as well, just didn’t feel like having to drive into downtown for it. Missouri aesthetics mixed with Cuban cuisine Ordered the Ropa Vieja, a roasted beef in tomato and other spices that give it a unique and delicious flavor all its own. Side dishes accompanying the main dish was savory black beans and rice.

We had the pleasure of eating at Havana 1961 the other day and the food was amazing. We love to support small local businesses and when we walked into the restaurant, we were transorted to another country. It was immediately warm and inviting. The Cuban sandwich and tacos were amazing. The flavors were rich and food was hot. The drinks were poured with a solid hand and unique as well. The owner and cook came out to check on us, and she was a delight. We will definitely be back.

Review update: Went with my wife for a lunch date and this did not disappoint. We got the cuban sandwich, tostones and I had a cuban coffee. The sandwiches are huge. I have eaten one on my own in a single sitting amd while very happy I ended up stuffed. The size makes them ideal for sharing or taking home for a second meal. We enjoyed the tostones though as a personal preference I like the maduros better. One thing to note is that the hours on Google (as of this writing) are not accurate. They are not open on Sunday per their website and the poated hours on the door. Great food, good service. Also the music level has been adjusted to a much more conversation friendly level. Original Review: Went here with my daughter as a way of trying something new. It did not disappoint. First, the restaurant is easy to find so that is a plus and is a charming establishment. Great ambiance. The menu is one page, front side only. Some might say this is limited but I say it is just focused to ensure excellence. Several options to choose from. That said my two points of disappointment were 1. Tamales take 30ish minutes to make and 2. They were out of the crispy shrimp. Given the quantities served this probably saved my gut and it means I have to come back. So it worked out for the best but still... my inner gordy wanted to stuff itself. What I did try was the pernil and my daughter got the small order of toston nachos. Quantities are very generous and the pork was very flavorful. Personal preferences would have had more cilantro sauce for the nachos. That is not to say there wasn't enough just that my daughter is a sauce with food person instead of a food with sauce person. I capped the meal off with a cafe de leche. I love Cuban coffee. The entire reason I first searched for and found this place was my search for Cuban coffee. It did not disappoint. The flavor and sweetness was spot on. I would also point out they have a Taste of Cuba family meal which looks to be very r

Ever have something so good you immediately post a review. This is IT! Wow, what a wonderful treat for the taste buds. Cuban bread was the perfect mix of pressed crunch and soft. Pork was flavorful and tender, ham , cheese and pickles perfection all with some sauce that was just the right favor punch to complement it all. Yuca fries were great and if you love garlic, you are gonna love the dipping sauce. Portions are ample I now have half a sandwich for tomorrow’s lunch as well. Decor is cute and homey honoring the Cuban heritage. Service was attentive. The owners came out to speak with me, and get my feedback. very nice. I can’t wait to come back and try more. Don’t miss out on this new hidden gem.

We had a great experience at Havana 1961 today!! We tried out quite a few items shared between four of us including tostones, papas reinas, empanadas, and the pork sandwich! The sandwich was massive and delicious! The pork was seasoned well and went great with the cheese, garlic aioli, and the perfectly crunchy and soft sourdough bread. The empanadas and papas were filled with picadillo meat, which is a super flavorful beef. Definitely get the papas reinas!! We liked the empanadas too; these had a nice flaky crust. The tostones were crispy and delicious, especially with that garlic aioli! Everything was truly delicious and at a good price point! The owner, Maria, was friendly and works very hard. I also appreciated her heart for the homeless and not letting food go to waste when there are people in need around her. The decor is also adorable inside that cute little brick building! Definitely check it out as it offers a delicious different offering from the typical restaurants in St. Peters.

We went here because they're on Fetch and wanted to try something new. (They're also on Upside) So we got points, cash back and a great meal. It's decorated so cute! The young lady who waited on us was very pleasant and attentive. The food was amazing and very reasonably priced. The burritos we ordered were both below $10 each! Lots of flavor and a great value! Come check it out!
